15+ Years in the Sports Management industry as an active Player Manager and Agent of top golf talent. He’s negotiated over $100 Million dollars in deals with top companies, agencies and brands over the years. He has a solid track record and niche for cultivating new companies into the golf space. Also was co-founder of TRUE linkswear in 2010 and was acting president for 5 years thru 2014. He lead the Sales efforts for the company and grew the brand to the 6th position in Market share in the competitive golf footwear space surrounded by billion dollar competitors.
He was a college baseball player with big league dreams. He was drafted to play for the Twins out of high school but chose to go the college route with a scholarship to Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, CA. There he fell in love with the idea of a sports business career. He initially got his start in the sports management business out of college in baseball working with MLB players and coaches. A couple years into that, he was given the opportunity to jump head first into the golf business and it was the best decision he ever made.
He has a true background of entrepreneurship and has been part of the start up of 10+ businesses in his short career thus far. He has started multiple golf business in the young and emerging golf markets in Asia, including Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, and Australia.
He is married to his high school sweetheart Kate and they have 2 boys, Aiden (21) and Trey (19). They live in Scottsdale, AZ.
Derek started his career in the software business. He has managed many successful programs and sales teams throughout his career which started at Epicor, Aerotek and most recently Trelevate.
After playing collegiate golf at the University of Northern Iowa, he undertook a successful professional golf career; playing on tours and tournaments across the country. His success in golfing, led him to caddy on the PGA Tour for world class players. From that experience he moved into a Director of Business Development role at Trelevate in which he enabled 150+ sales people across the country on a daily basis, with strategy, activation and key implementation of programs.
His strengths are in communicating with people and starting programs from the ground floor. As a strong entrepreneur at heart, and with a strong communications and marketing background, we lean on him for strategies, player development and partner management.
He is also married to his high school sweetheart Jamee (it's a Range thing) and they have 2 kids, Brooks (8) and Ella (5), and a four legged pup named Ace.They reside in Fountain Hills, AZ.
Jana Smoley is a dynamic force in the golf industry with over 20 years of experience spanning tournament operations, golf course management, sponsorship development, player management, and philanthropic formation. A trailblazer in the space, Jana was the first woman to serve as a tournament director on the PGA Tour, leading the Barracuda Championship and earning recognition as a Sports Business Journal Game Changer in 2011. Under her leadership, the tournament also received the PGA Tour’s Charity of the Year award for its impact on the local community.
Jana is the founder of Sunrise Sports Consulting, a boutique agency known for its strategic, relationship-driven approach. Sunrise was acquired by Range Sports as part of its growing golf division, where Jana now plays a leading role. Her clients include PGA Tour player Matt McCarty and renowned instructor Stan Utley, both of whom continue their journey under the Range umbrella.

Outside the office, Jana enjoys staying active through exercise, playing pickleball, and all things sports-related. Her greatest pride and joy are her two sons, Jake and Nick, both engineering majors at Texas A&M University.
Taylor has built a strong foundation in the golf industry through a passion for connection, growth, and creating meaningful experiences. A proud graduate of Grand Canyon University with a degree in Marketing and Sports Management, Taylor began her career five years ago under the mentorship of Jana Smoley at Sunrise Sports Consulting. That experience laid the groundwork for her continued success in golf and sports marketing.
At Range, Taylor leads our golf clinic outreach by securing premier dates with top-tier country clubs across the country—bringing world-class golf instruction to exclusive audiences. In addition to managing logistics for our teaching clinics, she plays a critical role in new business development, overseeing presentations, pitching partners, and shaping client relationships that drive long-term value.
Known for her positive energy, relentless work ethic, and people-first mindset, Taylor brings creativity and consistency to every project. Her leadership style blends professionalism with a personal touch, making her an indispensable teammate and trusted point of contact for our clients.
Outside of work, Taylor thrives on staying active and enjoys spending her time outdoors—whether it’s hiking, playing golf, or exploring new places.
Born and raised in Topeka, Kansas, Tyler attended Washburn University, where he competed as a collegiate golfer. After college, he pursued professional golf before transitioning into leadership roles within the golf industry. Since relocating to Arizona in 2017, he has spent the past 15 years immersed in the business of golf—including 14 years in operations at premier clubs like Troon North and Pine Canyon—earning a reputation as a "high-level hospitalian" known for creating elevated experiences and cultivating meaningful member engagement.
A self-proclaimed golf nerd, Tyler is passionate about the sport’s complexity, its culture, and the connections it fosters. His diverse background—from player and instructor to operator and strategist—provides him with a unique perspective and an unwavering commitment to excellence across all areas of sports management.
